Considered by many to be Idaho’s Crown Jewel, pristine Priest Lake in northern Idaho is often referred to as "The Lake Without a City". Blessed with a moderate climate and an abundance of top-notch recreational pursuits, the region is a vacationer’s paradise. Summer visitors will discover excellent opportunities to fish, boat, swim, water ski, camp or pick the abundant mushrooms and huckleberries. Hikers may explore ancient cedar groves, waterfalls and rock walls with pictographs left by the Kootenai and Kalispel tribes who frequented the area of Priest Lake State Park and the Salmo-Priest Wilderness Area. There are 9 and 18 hole golf courses located at Priest Lake and Blanchard. Winter sports include ice fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and skiing at Schweitzer Basin near Sandpoint. Fine resorts in the area offer a variety of accommodation and dining, with beach front, boat moorage, on site shopping and convention facilities.
