          There’s something delightfully
comforting about indulging in a classic
dish of fish and chips. The crisp golden
batter fried until perfectly puffy and
crunchy, encasing the firm, tender fish, is
a culinary delight that never fails to satisfy.
The Landing Hotel, Restaurant and Pub
has some of the best fish and chips in all
of Alaska. It is the fish, specifically halibut,
that holds the secret to their classic
recipe. Halibut is a large, firm white fish
that can grow up to 8 feet and weigh up
to 500 pounds. It has a delicate flavor
that is in contrast to the more common,
stronger taste of cod. This pairs extremely
well with the buttery flavor of the batter.
Halibut also provides more B vitamins
and omega-3 fatty acids than other white
fish, along with several minerals such
as magnesium and iron. However, it is
the freshness of the fish that makes this
a unique dining experience. For where
else but Alaska, can you enjoy fish that
is caught in the morning and ready for
your table at dinner? With a plate of fish
and chips, the Pacific Ocean just across
the street and the salty air, tickling your
senses, the Landing Hotel Restaurant and
Pub will have you savoring the simple
        pleasures in life.
