Travelers heading through Davenport are invited to stop for a rest at the Visitor Information Center and take a walk back in time through the Lincoln County Museum. The VIC is housed in the museum, located one block south of Hwy 2 (Morgan St.) between Sixth and Seventh streets. Davenport is surrounded by picturesque wheat fields and dates back to l880 when the area was homesteaded. The community offers a friendly, small-town atmosphere and provides all services for the traveler, including motels, RV hook ups, restaurants, groceries, fishing and camping supplies, downtown shopping, churches, two city parks, a swimming pool, public library, a hospital and clinic.
The golfer will find many challenging golf courses in the area. Twenty-five miles north of Davenport, Lake Roosevelt provides a major year-round fishery for Walleye, rainbow trout and Kokanee. The National Park Service operates 35 recreation areas along the 600 miles of shoreline. Maps are available at the Grand Coulee Dam Visitor Arrival Center. The lake is drawing increased numbers of visitors who find it ideal for fishing, skiing, swimming and camping. Davenport Pioneer Days is held the third week in July, providing fun for the whole family. The Lincoln County Fair at the end of August features arts, crafts, food, garden and animal exhibits.
