Pend Oreille Scenic Byway

The Pend Oreille Scenic Byway begins in the resort community of Sandpoint and snakes its way along the north end of Lake Pend Oreille on Idaho 200 to the Montana state line.  Along the way, you pass the waterfowl and wildlife havens of the Pack River and through a land sculpted by massive ancient glaciers.

Pulling off the road to enjoy Lake Pend Oreille, anglers will find more than 14 different species of game fish.  If you’re the kind of person who loves the water but gets squeamish at the mere thought of baiting a hook, don’t worry.  Lake Pend Oreille also offers fantastic boating, water skiing and 111 miles of beautiful shoreline on which to enjoy the water and the lush, green mountain views.

In the winter, visitors can enjoy skiing and snowmobiling on groomed trails, or simply explore this vast wonderland.  Idaho is truly a four-season area offering unique attractions and opportunities, all accessible from the Pend Oreille Scenic byway.
