Located south of the Yellowhead Highway on the way to Francois Lake, the Omineca Cross Country Ski Trails are the site of past Canadian Cross Country Ski Championships. These trails also serve for nature hiking and are popular with mountain bikers during the snow-free months. A free ferry sails across Francois Lake to South Bank on an hourly basis, opening up the beautiful “Southside”: Takysie Lake, Ootsa Lake, Uncha Lake, Cheslatta Lake and the Northern Gateway to the enormity of Tweedsmuir Provincial Park.
Located 15 miles south of the ferry, Takysie Lake or “Lake of Many Fishes” has an RV park, resort, gas station, restaurant, store and boat rentals. |
