Nestled in British Columbia’s magnificent Purcell Mountains, the charming alpine city of Kimberley offers excellent year-round outdoor recreation and friendly first-rate hospitality. Downtown's picturesque Platzl is an open air pedestrian hub of shopping, dining and street activities. The European style Platzl offers unique galleries and restaurants in a pleasant environment filled with trees and flowers, a babbling brook and benches and the occasional wandering minstrel.
A scenic 4 km drive high above the Platzl, Kimberley Alpine Resort provides over seventy-five open and gladed runs, over 30 km of groomed Nordic trails for cross-country skiing, dog sled, snowshoe and snowmobile tours, a free shuttle from the resort to the downtown Platzl and more. Visitors will enjoy great boutique shopping and fine restaurants. Winter time activities also include indoor and outdoor skating, ice fishing at Premier and Whiteswan Lakes, catching an exciting hockey game, relaxing in nearby hot springs, and pampering yourself at a spa or wellness centre.
In the summer, visitors can take in the three great golf courses, biking and hiking trails and fabulous fishing. Don't miss the fascinating and scenic ride back into Kimberley's mining history on the Kimberley Underground Mining Railway.
Kimberley also hosts a variety of festivals and races, including Julyfest and Arts on the Edge. |
