Wells Gray is one of British Columbia’s largest and most spectacular parks, encompassing the greater part of the Clearwater River watershed. There are five major lakes, two large river systems, countless small lakes and waterways, and a multitude of waterfalls, rapids, and cataracts. Boating and paddling are major attractions for campers and the park is laced with hiking trails. In winter, there are just as many opportunities for recreation, with a climate and terrain varied enough to suit the most demanding backpacker or mountaineer. Vehicle access to the park is south from Tete Jaune on Highway 5, at Blue River and Clearwater.
