Wembley’s scenic attractions include Sunset Lake Park, which features a gazebo offering a peaceful view perfect for bird watching. The Pipestone Golf Club is a favourite among the locals and Pipestone Creek Park has a beautiful campsite maintained by the County of Grande Prairie. The area has received international attention since the discovery of the world’s largest Pachyrhinosaurus dinosaur bone bed, packed with hundreds of dinosaur bones.
The new 41,000 square foot Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum opened in Wembley in September 2015, offering cutting edge interactive displays and extensive fossil and geological exhibits, hands-on research lab, National Geographic theatre, smart technology enabled class rooms and restaurant. Daily helicopter tours of the Pipestone Creek bonebed are also offered as well as the opportunity to sleep over with the dinosaurs in the Museum every third Friday of the month.
