The Municipal District of Greenview is known for the exceptional beauty of its vast area of pristine lands, offering up every conceivable outdoor recreational pursuit. Greenview maintains Provincial Recreation Areas at Kakwa River, Southview and Swan Lake, while golf courses can be found in Grande Cache, Grovedale, DeBolt, Fox Creek and Valleyview.
Located 12 km south of Grande Prairie along the Wapiti River near the hamlet of Grovedale, Nitehawk Recreation Area is Northern Alberta’s largest non-mountainous ski area, with triple chair, platter and conveyor lifts, nine runs, two freestyle terrain parks, snow tubing and bike parks. Qualified instructors offer snow school and luge lessons on a 15-turn track. Enjoy dog mushing, wagon rides or summertime lift-assisted downhill mountain biking with well over 500 feet in drop over diverse terrain. Nitehawk also provides a lushly treed, year round RV park and campground.
DeBolt Pioneer Museum is housed in a series of historical buildings, offering permanent displays on paleontology, First Nations life, homesteading, cattle country, rodeo and sports history. DeBolt hosts the Cranberry Lake Rodeo in June, while Valleyview holds their fair and rodeo in August and the Fall Festival in September with a fun corn boil and outdoor movies.
